What made you start Djing?

-“It was all brother rivalry. My brother got a DJ system and thought he would be better than me, so of course I wanted to show him and I did. So because of brother rivalry I got into being a DJ.”

How long have you been Djing?

-“About 11 years now”.

Any influences?

-“That would be DJ Jazzy Jeff, Tony B, and Bad Boy Bill. Those top three have influenced me a lot”.

Where can we hear you spin?

-“You can hear me every week on Thursdays here at La Mirage. On Fridays I am here at La Mirage or at V20.”

Hometown?

-“Of course in LA!!!! BORN AND DIE IN LA!

Why did you choose DJ Vinyl Dave as a name?

-“Well first of all the records are made out of Vinyl, so I got the Vinyl from that, and of course my name Dave.”

Where was your first gig and what was so special about that night?

-“At that time the club was called The Palace, but now it’s called Avalon. It was very special because not only was it my first time, but It opened up for Richard Vission. That was really cool.”

What's in DJ Vinyl Dave's future?

-“I would like to get into music production and artist management. Those are the top two that I am looking forward to.”

What is your favorite record of all time?

-“All Notorious B.I.G Records baby!!!!!!”
